    2019 Small Business Expo will be hosted by GDKACC, ...

    ▲ H.K. Kim, GDKACC president, is conversing with the Expo kick-off meeting attendees. Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber of Commerce(GDKACC) will be hosting ‘2019 Dallas Small Business Expo’ on Saturday, November 2nd at the Westin Galleria Dallas Hotel.   GDKACC held a kick-off meeting last Friday and invited organizations and businesses to offer description of the Expo.   Among the attendees at the Friday’s meeting were representatives from Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce, Richardson Chamber of Commerce, KOTRA Dallas, Carrollton City Council, AT&T, and Korean American Trade Association of Dallas.   Stella Park and Victoria Lee of GDKACC gave a presentation to the attendees and offered a glimpse of what the Expo will be like.   With ‘Smart Stores’ as its theme, the EXPO is designed to provide the local small businesses with an opportunity to transition their stores into ‘smart stores’ using 5G and other latest technologies that are available today.   “The purpose of the Expo is to offer opportunities of information exchange for small business companies in Dallas Fort Worth area, which has become a center place for small business, by inviting 25 promising companies from Korea and U.S. and providing exhibition booth to participating companies. The Expo will also include business consulting and business forum with global logistics companies and other various businesses operating locally.”   According to GDKACC, the Expo will be co-hosted by KOTRA Dallas (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), Korean American Chamber of Commerce, USA, Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, Greater Dallas Asian Chamber of Commerce, Metro Crest Chamber of Commerce, KOAM Chamber of Commerce, Consular Office of the Republic of Korea, and the Korean Society of Dallas.   “We’ve been preparing for this event since June of last year. As the preparation committee finalizes the details of the expo, I sincerely hope this event will be beneficial to the local small businesses and job seekers.” GDKACC president H.K.     달라스한인상공회 임원진, 경찰국 민원실 간담회 참석 중앙일보   0   134 06.22 01:43         달라스한인상공회(회장 김현겸) 임원진이 지난 13일(목) 달라스 경찰국 민원실을 방문했다. 이번 방문은 달라스 경찰국이 주최한 ‘제1회 달라스 경찰국과 지역 상공회 임원진 간담회’의 일환으로 이뤄졌다. 달라스경찰국에서 열린 이번 간담회에는 달라스한인상공회를 비롯해 중국과 인도 상공회 등 11개 지역 상공회에서 30여 명의 임원진이 참여했다. 달라스한인상공회에서는 박영남 수석고문, 스텔라 박 수석부회장, 빅토리아 이 이사가 참석했다. 이들은 경찰국 관계자들과 각 상권별 안전 강화 및 범죄 예방 등에 대한 의견을 나누고 질의 응답을 하는 시간을 가졌다. 해리하인즈 한인 상권의 경우 주요 우범지역에 감시카메라를 설치하는 방안을 추진하겠다고 경찰 관계자는 밝혔다. 박영남 수석고문은 이번 간담회를 통해 한인 상권 및 타 커뮤니티 상권의 치안에 대한 중요성을 다시 한번 각인시키는 계기가 됐다고 전해왔다.

    GDKACC Awards 5 Children of Dallas Police Departmen...

      Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber of Commerce (GDKACC) held its 11th annual Dallas Police Department Appreciation Luncheon and Scholarship Award Tuesday, June 4th at the Omni Hotel Dallas – Park West.   GDKACC awarded five children of the Dallas Police Department, each with $1,000 scholarship. Scholarship recipients are the children of DPD officers and employees, who will be starting colleges this fall.   Among the attendees were Executive Assistant Chief of Police David Pughes, other high ranking officers, families of DPD personnel, and leaders from the Korean-American community of North Texas.   Jordan Childs delivered 2018 recipient remarks, encouraging the 2019 recipients to explore the new challenges that lie ahead.     Korean-American Community Expresses Appreciation fo...

      2019 Carrollton Police/Fire Department Appreciation Luncheon and Scholarship Award was held Monday, June 10th at the Coyote Ridge Golf Club in Carrollton.   This event marks the 4th year in row, in which the Korean-American community of North Texas expressed their appreciation for Carrollton Police and Fire Department by holding luncheon and scholarship award ceremony.   6 children and one spouse of the Carrollton Police/Fire Department employees were selected and presented with $1,000 scholarship each.   Carrollton Mayor Kevin Falconer and Carrollton Fire Department Chief Gregg Salmi delivered welcoming remarks before the scholarship presentation.   “While our First Responders are often thanked, the sacrifice their families make tends to go unnoticed. The scholarships will help recognize and reward the families that share their loved ones for the safety of our community” said Mayor Falconer.   Fire Chief Salmi thanked the Korean-American community for the continued support for the past 4 years and explained how the scholarships help students achieve higher education, including such things as buying laptops and paying part of college tuition. Carrollton Police Commander Mike Bishop delivered welcoming remarks in place of Police Chief Derick Miller, who couldn’t attend the event due to unexpected issues within the Police Department.   “On behalf of the Carrollton Police Department, I thank the Korean Society of Dallas and the Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber of Commerce for their generous support, not only of today’s scholarship recipients, but of law enforcement overall.” said Chief Miller through a written message.   Mayor Falconer presented Myung-Hui Park, the president of the Korean Society of Dallas, with the Carrollton city’s letter of appreciation. Fire Chief Salmi and Commander Bishop presented John Chong, co-owner of Carrollton Asian Town Center, with a letter of appreciation.   After the scholarship presentation, Caitlyn Knight and Carson Yarbrough delivered the recipient remarks.   Carrollton Police/Fire Department Appreciation Luncheon and Scholarship Award was hosted by Korean Society of Dallas, Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber of Commerce and National Unification Advisory Council Dallas Chapter.   Title sponsor for this year’s event was Carrollton Asian Town Center, where H Mart is located.
